Located in Naduri village is one of the main historical site of Macuata called ‘yavu vale vavalagi’.
According to Ratu Peni Sogia the ‘vale vavalagi’ was built in the early 1900s by the people of Dreketi.
The strong wooden structure of the bure stands strong on a pile of neatly arranged stones, likewise the ruined walls of the first Macuata Provincial Council office. Ratu Peni said that according to his late father whilst the men were about to lower the wood into the ground they grab hold of an indo Fijian man who was thrown into the pit before they lower the wood to crush the man.
Macuata was the last province to accept Christianity in Fiji.
