Under the I Taukei Affairs Board the first Macuata Provincial Council office was established at Naduri village the chiefly village of Macuata. Today the site is called ‘yavu’ the oldest standing structure of a Fijian traditional house called ‘bure’ used by the chiefs in the earlier days. The small old house made of bricks of lime stones which had been ruined partly still stay today. According to Ratu Peni Sogia the structure was built in the late 1800s or early 1900s

The second Macuata Provincial Council office was later relocated and built at Korovou settlement just 1 1/2km away from Naduri village. It was built in the late 1900s before the new office was relocated to Labasa town.
