The Good Governance Unit's Role is aligned to the iTaukei Affairs Act 1944. it is established to also provide support to the provision of the iTaukei Affairs (Tikina and Village Councils) Regulation 1996.
On the duties of the Tikina Council; Section 13 (1) subsection (c) provide a forum for the discussion of Tikina problems and act as a vehicle for the enforcement of Provincial Council resolutions relating to the good governance, welfare or prosperity of the inhabitants of the Tikina, and as a means of airing and resolution disputes; (d) be a forum for the channeling of decisions of the Government and Provincial Councils to the people of the Tikina.
On the duties of the Village Council; Section 29 sub- section (f) to ensure that all subordinate legislation and resolutions made by the Board, the provincial Council and Tikina Council affecting the People in the village are explained clearly to them and implemented for the good governance of the village.
